This collection contains a wide variety of items collected by Fred Smith. Many items, including photographs, a scrapbook, and blueprints, either belonged to or refer to A.L. Hobson and family. Other people refered to in this collection include Mrs Frances Miriam Rice, Miss Mary K. Brown, Helen D. Barnard, and Henry Amos Flint. Southern Pacific Milling Company records

Abstract The Southern Pacific Milling Company (SP Milling) was primarily a milling and quarrying company that had operations in several locations throughout California’s central coast, with major operations in El Rio and in Ventura. The company was active from around 1886 to 1995. In the 1950s the company took over the business of the Santa Barbara Mill and Lumber Company. Abstract The Saint Francis Dam disaster took place in the late night and early morning hours of March 12-13, 1928. The concrete gravity dam collapsed and sent a tide of water through the Santa Clara River Valley and out to the coastal plains of Ventura and Oxnard. The death toll was estimated at 431. Jess E.
